The reason why the EP is titled SHAMAN is to make a parallel to the status and purpose of the ancient practice of shamanism which was all about transcending the human state in order to communicate with nature and bring its knowledge back upon us. They would do that by entering a DMT high from drinking ayahuasca. Thus why the EP’s running order is this one:

1. The Juniper Tree (Ascension) - a spoken word poem layered on top of a cinematic and eerie production which encompasses sonically the earthly knowledge (film scoring), which also marks the first level of communication with nature
2. Crossroads - using the same vocalist, the ascension has been completed and what was heard first as a spoken word, turns to a melody (kinda like how the Ents in Lord of The Rings could talk to humans and between themselves). Sonically, the track explores the realm of trip-hop with radiohead-esque blips and fuzz.
3. Extraordinary - the peak of the high, the floating moment in any trip. An electronic pop song which brings some subtle elements from the previous song to form what technically speaking is pop music.
4. Kachinas’ Dance - the afterburn of the high, where you keep going even when you know you’re tired from everything you’ve learned so far and you turn it up to level 11. French Techno and UK Rave elements found throughout the song.
5. The Juniper Tree (Return) - the comedown. After hearing the nature (in this case the world of music) speak, it all boils down into one big blast where the track is reborn into something else. This is where XAS comes back with his new sound.
